Week 16: Imitating the Planets

After taking a week break from Blender, I came back recharged and completed another fun tutorial! Today, thanks to Olav3D Tutorials, I created a floating sun, earth and moon. The final animation can be seen below.

The quick tutorial was about 10 minutes and I thought it was explained very well. I tried the tutorial last week and I about half way through I messed up and still don’t know what I did wrong. Since I am still learning this software, I am not going to get it right every time but I’m trying to learn from my mistakes.

Anyways, I took some progress shots along the way, they can be seen below. (The screenshots are a mixture from my first failed attempt at the tutorial and the one I completed today.)

When you look at the glare of the sun you can see the reflection of a room. That is thanks to an HDRI background that can be found for free on various websites. An example of an HDRI background can be seen below.

Again this tutorial was fun and I love the spacey final product.

Until next time.
