Week 12: African Capoeira Animation (WIP)

As the title suggests, I am currently working on my next animation. This is probably my hardest yet most enjoyable animation to date.

Before we get started, I reference my animation from the website Bodies in Motion. It’s a great website for artists to get action poses and study different kind of movement.

I decided to choose the African Capoeira animation because I love the movement. I have since learned the Capoeira is a martial are influenced dance, which is thought to have originated in Brazil in the 16th century. According to Wikipedia, the Afro-Brazilian martial art combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music.

Before I go into the animation, I usually like to do some studies to get a feel of the animation.

The above image are studies I did about a week before I started the animation. Each study was no more than 5 minutes long.

Now that I feel more comfortable with the movement, I start the animation. The progress (or WIP) animation can be seen below.
